Lockridge Building Demolition Can Be Prevented
It was brought to our attention on Wednesday, January 3rd that the Frank Lloyd Wright Lockridge Building in Whitefish, Montana was facing demolition. Several conversations with Barbara Gordon of the Frank Lloyd Wright Conservancy have confirmed that total demolition is indeed in the immediate plans of the property owner for future development. The property owner's asking price stands firm at $1.7 million. Wright Docent Jim Klippel has reached out to colleagues in Montana close with state Governor Steve Bulloch and confirmed that the governor is aware of the situation and "making inquiries". As of Wednesday, January 10th it has been confirmed that the building has been completely fenced in and that all trees on the property are being cut down and hauled off.
WrightDocent.org asks that you share this information with anyone that would be concerned and contact anyone you believe can help save this building and it's history. Please make others aware and maybe we can collectively put a hold on the demolition until a new solution can be found!
